U.S. Steel is a pro-wrestler-themed superhero with an Uncle Sam motif. His alter ego, Sam Turgen, is a sports reporter on the Channel Five Action News Team television show.
Character[]
U.S. Steel is a hero who first appeared in the episode Handsome Ransom as part of Captain Sunshine's group The Super Gang.
In Any Which Way But Zeus it was revealed that Ghost Robot is his sidekick. U.S. Steel appeared at the end of the episode looking for Ghost Robot, who had earlier been kidnapped by Henchman Zero and apparently killed in gladiatorial combat with Henchman 21. US Steel was presumably unaware of his sidekick's immortality, as he was seen weeping in the absence of Ghost Robot's immediate emergence with the rest of Zero's prisoners when they were freed. The reason for this ignorance has not yet been revealed, though Ghost Robot himself has appeared (unharmed) in subsequent episodes.

Trivia[]
- Jackson Publick originally wanted to call the character Uncle Slam, but changed the name to U.S. Steel when a Google search revealed "There's a [...] comic book called Uncle Slam, and he's a wrestler."[1]
- His mannerisms are similar to that of former professional wrestler "Macho Man" Randy Savage.
