The Shmatte Golem or Pants Golem is a minor character in The Venture Bros. movie: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart. It is a magically animated being composed of old clothing, primarily pants.
History[]
The Order of the Triad found the Shmatte Golem in the attic of their New York headquarters upon moving in. It was brought back to life by The Alchemist, who "knows a little Hebrew" until Dr. Orpheus was able to suppress it. Dr. Orpheus resurrected it again to help him, Jefferson Twilight and Dean Venture fight and escape from Nuno Blood and his Blacula gang. It is seemingly the only magic that is effective against vampires/blaculas as Jefferson told Orpheus that magic does not work on them.

Trivia[]
- In the book Go Team Venture!: The Art and Making of The Venture Bros., Jackson Publick included the original pitchbook that he used to shop the show around to television networks before [adult swim] bought it. One of the characters from the pitchbook that never made it into to the show before the movie was "The Pants Golem of 7th Avenue", which the pitchbook describes thus:
"The soulless, preternaturally strong defender of the garment district, fashioned from a hundred pairs of slacks and given life by a mystical Jewish tailor concerned about the Chinese garment sweatshops encroaching on his neighborhood. He lay dormant for forty years, but is awakened by Doc during an excursion to find long out of production polyester material with which to repair his favorite slacks."
- A golem is an animated, anthropomorphic being in Jewish folklore, which is entirely created from inanimate matter.
- The script written across the Pants Golem's face reads מכנסיים, which is the Hebrew word for "pants".
- The Golem comes to life when the sock is added and falls dormant when the sock is removed. The Hebrew writing on just the sock reads נס, meaning "miracle".
- Christopher McCulloch referred to the character as a "Shmatte Golem". Shmatte is a Yiddish word meaning "a rag; a ragged or shabby garment."
