Klaus Nomi was a bodyguard of The Sovereign in the world of The Venture Bros. He was based on the real world musician of the same name.
Character History[]
Klaus is introduced as a bodyguard for The Sovereign, attending the wedding of The Monarch and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch at The Cocoon in Cremation Creek. However, once a team of Guild Wasps arrive to interrupt the ceremony he and Iggy Pop reveal themselves to be sleeper agents, taking orders directly from Phantom Limb.
Klaus' associate Iggy Pop seemingly disintegrates The Sovereign, who only leaves behind a pack of cigarettes. Iggy Pop picks up the pack and later attempts to smoke them, though it turns out the cigarette pack is merely a disguise for the shapeshifting Sovereign. The Sovereign assumes his human form and pushes Iggy off a Guild Wasp helicopter, where he presumably meets his death. Meanwhile, The Sovereign assumes Iggy's form to get the jump on Klaus. By the time that Klaus realizes the deception and uses his sonic scream, The Sovereign has put his hand on his mouth, causing Klaus to inflate like a balloon and then burst.
Powers and Abilities[]
Klaus displayed a number of powers, such as a sonic scream and flight. His tuxedo functioned as a sort of plastic armor, repelling The Monarch's punches. In addition, Klaus' bow tie could launch as a projectile weapon.

Trivia []
- Klaus Nomi's superpower--the ability to generate sonic blasts of concussive force with his voice--is similar to that of Sean Cassidy (aka Banshee) from Marvel's X-Men comics. Both are also capable of flight.
- The Monarch refers to Klaus as "The one dressed like Taco," in reference to Taco Ockerse, who wore a tuxedo in his famous cover of "Puttin' on the Ritz".
