God Gas is a hallucinogentic, mind-influencing gas that takes the form of a pink cloud. It was developed by Pete White and Billy Whalen based upon (or maybe just wholly taken from) Venture Techno Industries notes. It was said to effect false religious visions and change states of consciousness. Dr. Thaddeus Venture hoped to market it as a mind control gas and take it to the Science Now conference[1], but these plans fell through.[2]

Biological Means of Operation[]

According to Billy Whalen, the gas temporarily excites the temporal lobe by the olfactory pathway to orbital cortex.[1]

Experiments[]

The first experiments were conducted on lab mice, which proved effective in causing the mice heightened states of consciousness and receiving pseudo-divine inspiration, at least enough to cause them to recreate several scenes from the Bible. However, Pete and Billy failed to notice any of these effects due to distraction with other matters. The mice ultimately destroyed themselves in religious strife leading to a conflagration of their cage.[1]

After Brock Samson got into a fight with Haranguetan, Dr. Venture attempted to test the gas on Haranguetan. However, the dispenser created by Pete White exploding, effecting Brock Samson and Billy Whalen along with Haranguetan. Brock Samson's mind was bombarded by visions of Warriana's majesty, and he ran off to submit himself to her. Meanwhile, Venture commanded Haranguetan to grovel, but the villain only saw a hellish nightmare world around him. Whalen, looking upon the adult Venture and seeing his heroic child self Rusty, called for help. Venture fled, but the Monarch and Henchman 21 arrived upon the scene under the guises of Blue Morpho and Kano. Upon the Monarch's orders, 21 saved Whalen and delivered him into the arms of the Monarch. Still overwhelmed by the gas, Whalen saw the Blue Morpho as a savior figure and thought him to be Dr. Venture in disguise. Meanwhile, 21 punched out Haranguetan, accidentally driving him into a pit and killing him.[1]

Billy Whalen eventually degenerated into a pathetic, barely cogent state under the God Gas's effects for a time. Pete White captured this on video.[2]

Aftermath[]

Pete White posted a video of Billy Whalen on Youtube hyped up on the God Gas, leading to tens of thousands of hits. However, the action made the Gas vilified by the general public, and the stock for Venture Techno Industries to plummet like a rock. Moreover, reporter Alexis Warrington launched an investigation and interviewed the Pirate Captain, whom denied allegations of illegal mind control experiments.[2]
