Chairman Wao is a minor recurring background character on The Venture Bros.
Character History[]
Chairman Wao is a villain and a member of the Guild of Calamitous Intent. A restaurant (Chairman Wao's Chow House) with his name and likeness has appeared in a couple of episodes.[1][2]
He was first seen shopping at Doctor Thaddeus Venture's tag sale and getting into the subsequent brawl when chaos erupted.[3] He also applied to become arch-nemesis for the Order of the Triad but instead got in a brawl with the Walking Eye and a number of other villains.[4]
Chairman Wao attended the wedding of the Monarch[5] and showed up for the rebuilding of the Cocoon after The Monarch and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch were approved for villainous duoship.[6]
He also appeared at Sgt. Hatred's party upon the latter's acquisition of Dr. Venture as an arch-nemesis.[7]
Notes and Trivia[]
- It seems likely Chairman Wao is a composite character of China's Chairman Mao and Korea's Kim Jong-il.
- The restaurant may be a reference to General Tso's chicken.
- His name is spelled "Chairman Wow" in the Guild files in Season 4.
